64 000 registered runners and more than 200 000 spectators each year. Experience the World’s Largest Half Marathon.

Dream time in sight

The starting field for GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon on Saturday is impressing – there are chances of a new “dream time” under 60 minutes.

Jonathan Maiyo from Kenya has raced four times under 60 minutes with 59,02 as fastest time. He is a well established world runner and definitely has a chance to reach the dream time again. But in order to make it around the tough course under one hour the weather has to be perfect.

The dream time for ladies is under 68 minutes.

Six ladies in the starting field have run under 70 minutes this year. An half marathon expert is Worknesh Degefa, Etiopia, with 67,14 as personal best. Also, the winner from 2013, Isabella Ochichi, Kenya, is returning.

For the first time Japanese runners are participating. Japan is one of few countries that can compete against the East African nations, especially among the ladies.

The first runner under 60/68 minutes will receive a super bonus of 10 000 €.

Audience

More than 200,000 supporters will cheer the runners along the race, which makes GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon to Sweden’s largest live event.

GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon will be broadcasted on the National Swedish Television channel SVT1 or online on SVT Play (only in Sweden) on the race day at 12.45 pm.

Additionally, the race can be followed on large screens located at Lindholmen, Frihamnen, Götaplatsen, and in the start and finish area.
