GERMAN MEETINGS: ROTH – Legend of Triathlon: DATEV Challenge Roth on July 17

About 3,400 individual participants and 650 relay teams from more than 60 nations, a high-class field of participants and around 260,000 spectators along the race course and at the triathlon stadium:

This is DATEV Challenge Roth, the world’s biggest long-distance triathlon event, which will take place on July 17, 2016 in the German city of Roth.

And the race has long become a legend: The famous triathlon festival in the European triathlon metropolis of Roth there takes place for more than three decades (first edition: 1984).

The competition starts with a 3.8 kilometers swim in the Main-Donau-Canal, followed by a 180 kilometers bike race and a marathon run of  42 kilometers. The winner will probably again cross the finish-line in less than eight hours this year. The unbelievable world’s best time established by Andreas Raelert in Roth in 2011 is 7:41:33 hours.

On July 17, the city and county of Roth will again experience a spectacular high-class sports event under the Challenge brand.

As every year, there will be an excellent field of participants including many well-known top athletes from all over the world. At the same time, DATEV Challenge Roth is a big family festival, including a great surrounding program, e. g. triathlon expo at the Roth Triathlon Park (Thursday to Monday), NightRun, Junior Challenge and Challenge forAll, Challenge Women run and a Finish-Line Party on race day.

DATEV Challenge Roth starts in the early morning at 6.30 a.m. with the swim in the Main-Donau-Canal (near the Hilpoltstein landing stage) and ends with a spectacular fireworks display at the Roth triathlon stadium at 11 p.m.
