Germany’s shot put top athletes guests at the sports city of Duesseldorf: Reigning men’s World champion David Storl as well as women’s World silver medallist Christina Schwanitz will compete at the ninth edition of the “PSD Bank Meeting” at the Athletics Hall at Arena Sportpark on 30 January 2014.

23-year-old Olympic silver medallist Storl achieved his second World title since 2011 in Moscow in 2013; 28-year-old European champion Schwanitz won her first World medal in Moscow. “In 2013 we were unfortunately forced to withdraw the men’s shot put from the programme due to cancellations. David Storl is an exceptional athlete and currently the number one in shot put. I am really pleased that he will compete here”, said Meeting Director Marc Osenberg and continued:

“The women shot putters will make their debut in Duesseldorf. Christina Schwanitz has proved most recently at the World Championships in Moscow that we have very good shot putters in Germany. This must be appreciated.”

In Duesseldorf Storl will meet the two-time Polish Olympic champion Tomasz Majewski (2088, 2012) and Serbian indoor European champion Asmir Kolasinac, among others. The German finished third at the “PSD Bank Meeting” in 2010 and 2012 – both times behind Majewski. Osenberg: “We may look forward to a thrilling competition.”

And once again the TV sport channel Eurosport will broadcast two hours live (19:00-21:00hrs CET) from the sports city of Duesseldorf. As in the past years, the Event & Fair Hotel Tulip Inn is the official event hotel.

Tickets can be obtained on the Internet at www.psd-bank-meeting.de or at d:ticket as well as on the hotline +49 1805 – 644332.

Children and juveniles up to 18 years pay ten, adults 18 Euro. Clubs once again get discounts.
