GERMAN MEETINGS: DÜSSELDORF – 10th PSD Bank Meeting: Sell-out Meeting with Olympic and World champions

By GRR 0

Almost 200 athletes will compete at the 10th PSD Bank Meeting in Duesseldorf – as many as never before. The field of entries in the main programme consists of 135 athletes from 36 nations; 30 youth athletes will start in the preliminaries, and 32 pupils participate in the school relay.

“It is a great pleasure that the meeting continues to develop and improve further. We may be curious about which best marks will be broken on the occasion of the tenth meeting”, says August-Wilhelm Albert, the Chairman of PSD Bank Rhein-Ruhr eG.

Much may be expected as the field of entries is top class:

Dayron Robles (Cuba) is the 2008 Olympic champion in the 110m hurdles, his opponent in the 60m hurdles is Omoghan Osaghae (USA), reigning indoor World champion; Kim Collins (St. Kitts and Nevis) is the 2003 World champion in the 100 metres.

In the pole vault as well as in the shot put World champions will fight each other for victory. German Raphael Holzdeppe will meet Pawel Wojciechowski (Poland) and Konstadinos Filippidis (Greece) in pole vault, while US Americans Christian Cantwell and Ryan Whiting battle it out in shot put.

Omoghan „Omo“ Osaghae will appear for the second time at the PSD Bank Meeting: “The atmosphere in Duesseldorf is fantastic and I’m looking forward to competing on Thursday. I was runner-up in 2013, and of course I want to do better this year. Given the strong competition in the 60m hurdles, it will certainly be an exciting race.”

“The top selection of athletes distinguishes the PSD Bank Meeting and that’s acknowledged by the great response of the public.  We may again announce a sell-out crowd at the Athletics Hall as Arena Sportpark.

In addition to top-class competitions we also offer a great social programme with Stefanie Heinzmann and some show effects to celebrate ten years of PSD Bank Meeting.  And I want to take the opportunity of expressing my gratitude to our sponsors, particularly title sponsor PSD Bank Rhein Ruhr“, says Martin Ammermann, Managing Director of Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event GmbH.

The EVENT & FAIR Hotel Tulip Inn at Arena Duesseldorf is once again the athletes’ hotel. Here, too, they are looking forward to the International Athletics Meeting: “Since the beginning of our partnership with the Indoor Meeting we have welcomed as guests about 1,500 male and female athletes from all over the world.  We, too, are pleased to help provide a fantastic atmosphere together with the audience and many volunteers and ensure a smooth running as we provide our exclusive catering on the evening of the event at the Athletics Hall”, explicates Nicola Stratmann, Managing Director EVENT & FAIR Hotel Tulip Inn at Arena Duesseldorf.

Should you have missed out in the ticket sale, you can still follow the event: Eurosport will again broadcast two hours live (19:00-21:00hrs CET) from the sports city of Duesseldorf.
