GERMAN MEETINGS: BERLIN – Moscow 2013 is over, ISTAF BERLIN is just around the corner: Germany’s four world champions will compete in Berlin!
Berlin – The 72nd International Stadium Festival on the 1st of September 2013 will for some athletes be the revenge for the IAAF World Championships 2013. All four German world champions of Moscow will compete in the Berlin against their international competitors.
After Raphael Holzdeppe (pole vault), Robert Harting (Discus) and David Storl (shot put) also javelin thrower Christina Obergföll, who won won gold on the last competition day, agreed to participate.
Not only the world champions but all German medal winners will compete at the most traditional athletics meeting in the world: Michael Schrader (Silver), shot putter Christina Schwanitz (Silver) and pole vaulter Björn Otto (Bronze). For Christina Schwanitz the women shot put had been taken into the program after her surprising success. That has of course consequences for the organization.
The shot put ring will be moved from the east to the west curve, so that the athletes will not collide with the pole vaulters.
After the commitment of all German medal winners of Moscow, the managers are now working on the international field. Among the 200 athletes in 16 disciplines will again be the strongest in the world. Christina Schwanitz for example, will meet again with the four-time world champion and Olympic champion Valerie Adams (New Zealand).
ISTAF CEO Martin Seeber, "The IAAF World Championships of Moscow were from a sporting point of view a great advertisement for athletics and the ISTAF. We are very pleased to present all German medal winners and many top athletes to our audience. "
