Gatorade Helsinki City Marathon is run on 18th August, 2012!

Set yourself a challenge to run the 42,195 meters long route along the beautiful streets of Helsinki! The refreshment points, happy runners to run with and the fresh breath of the sea wind along the route will help you all the way to the finish.

Event in 2012:

  • Helsinki City Marathon 2012 is run on Saturday 18th August, 2012. We are excepting over 6000 runners from over 50 countries!
  • Start: on the Mäntymäentie-street close to the Olympic Stadium at 3 PM. Finish: inside the Helsinki Olympic Stadium
  • Do the registration here.  Only the insurance fee makes the postponing of the participation right to the next year's event possible. The fee must be paid with the registration and can not be paid afterwards. More information under registration.

 Helsinki City Marathon is the biggest marathon event in Finland!

 

 

The 32nd Helsinki City Marathon is run 18th August, 2012.

The start of the 32-year-anniversary run is close to the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, on the Mäntymäentie-streetin front of the statue of a great Finnish runner, Paavo Nurmi at 3 PM. Helsinki City Marathon is a one-start-event. 42,195 meters long route goes around Helsinki finishing inside the historical Helsinki Olympic Stadium.

A marathon alongside of the sea and in the parks

The route of the Helsinki City Marathon is strongly influenced by the sea and the parks. Almost half of the course follows the coast line of the Baltic Sea, and the course going through nice parks will guarantee you an unforgettable marathon experience. Get to know the course map.

Refreshment points

There are fifteen refreshment points along the route at which water and Gatorade Lemon (6%) -sports drink are served. Also, at some of the refreshment points also pickles and banana is served. In addition, you can find different refreshments at the finish.

Chip-timing and intermediate times

Helsinki City Marathon will use ChampionChip system for timing. The chip makes it possible for the runner to be able to get also the actual running time that the runner has spent from crossing the start carpet to crossing the finish line. In addition, every runner will get three official intermediate times.

Medal and T-shirt

Every participant will get a Helsinki City Marathon T-shirt. In addition, every runner crossing the finish line will receive a Helsinki City Marathon medal and a diploma will be sent later, after the run.

Age limit

The age limit for the Helsinki City Marathon is 18 years. Everyone who is at least 18 years old, or will turn 18 during the year of the run, has the participation right.

History of the Helsinki City Marathon

Helsinki City Marathon is organized by Finnish Athletics Federation (Suomen Urheiluliitto ry), Helsingin Kisa-Veikot, Helsingin Poliisi-Voimailijat and Viipurin Urheilijat. 

Get to know the history of the Helsinki City Marathon event and see also the development of the participants number along the past years. Here you can also see every medal that has been given to the finishers each year. The picture in the medal is a building or another attraction along the route, which changes every year.

 

The race office and expo

During the event 17th-18th August, the race office is located in Helsinki, Töölö Sports Hall (Töölön Kisahalli, address Paavo Nurmen kuja 1). The runner should pick up his/her race packet (incl. running number and timing chip) and T-shirt from the race office before the race. The race numbers must be picked up by Saturday 1 PM! T-shirt is picked up after the race packet from another desk. It cannot be picked up afterwards.

and Saturday 18th August, 2012 at 9 AM – 1 PM
