Fourth Jerusalem Marathon on 21 March 2014 – Run Through History

By GRR 0

Mayor's Greeting – Dear Runners,
As a dedicated sports enthusiast and marathon runner, who has participated in five marathons in different cities around the world, I can personally attest that there is nothing like the Jerusalem Marathon.

This is an opportunity to get a direct experience of the city in all its aspects: the various communities, the amazing landscape, the new cultural centers, its fascinating history, the fast-growing development and construction, and the unique touristic sites, all this while breathing the proverbial ''mountain air- as clear as wine''.

The Jerusalem Marathon was chosen at the beginning of 2013 by the British running magazine ''Women's running Magazine'' as one of the top 10 international spring running events around the world. Without any doubt, the fascinating and challenging running course in Jerusalem provides the perfect experience for the runners, in a city that many people around the world turn their eyes to.

In the last year, more than 20,000 runners from 54 different countries participated in the marathon, and it was the biggest international marathon in Israel, with 1,730 participants from abroad. The Jerusalem Marathon is also the most socially engaged one in Israel, and in the last year over 5,500 runners participated to promote social causes.

This is the fourth year of the Jerusalem Marathon, and it is expected to be an extraordinary experience, just like the ones before. I would like to invite you- all runners, amateurs and professionals alike, alone, in groups or families, students and soldiers, of all religions and ethnic backgrounds, to come and take part in the 2014 marathon, which will be even bigger, more exciting and unforgettable then before.

The fourth International Jerusalem Marathon will be launched on 21 March 2014.

See you all the starting line!

Nir Barkat
Mayor of Jerusalem

The 10 km race.
The 5 km race
Racing for a Cause – 800 m

Participants who choose to compete in the full or half marathons will enjoy an exceptional event and will be invited to join the traditional Pasta dinner .

In the course of the days preceding the marathon, the municipality of Jerusalem will host an EXPO fair, displaying an exhibition on the themes of sports and health, which will take place at the ICC Jerusalem International Convention Center, on March 18-20 between 03:00-11:00pm.

This particular date of the marathon has been selected especially in order to offer the runners comfortable weather and a low level of humidity.

The city of Jerusalem is blessed with the type of weather and humidity level which facilitate pleasant conditions for challenging and gratifying sports such as this marathon.
