FLASH: 40. ASICS Stockholm Marathon 2018

FLASH: Punishing temperatures of 27-28C slowed down the 40^th edition of the ASICS Stockholm Marathon.

1089 of the 15 755 starters did not make it to the finish line. That is seven percent, a surprisingly low figure, considering that the previous hottest years resulted in more than 13 percent non-finishers.

Kenya’s Lawi Kiptui secured victory in 2:13:30 with an incredible fast finish, 30:20 between 30 and 40 K. Fellow Kenyan Dominic Kimwetich was beaten by almost three minutes.

The margin was even bigger in the women’s raced, won by Stockholmer Mikaela Larsson, in 2:40:28, ahead of Ethiopian junior, Bekelu Beji, in 2:43:55.
