FLASH: 25. MIZUNO SIBERIAN INTERNATIONAL MARATHON (SIM) – RUSSIA
FLASH: A group of three Kenyans got away early on in the 25th anniversary race with John Kiuy content to allow others to lead until a kilometre before the final turnaround point at 30km.
He quickly established a big lead which grew inexorably as his compatriots suffered from an over-ambitious start in which three passed through halfway in 65:30.
Purity Kimetto also blasted through the first half in 1:14 but despite going ahead of the male runner who had led her up to 28km she slowed soon afterwards and faced a long hard struggle to the finish.
Behind her the gap closed up but she had a sufficient lead to stay ahead until the finish line.
