European Athletics (EAA) – News – European Athletics Indoor Championships set for over 250 hours of TV coverage
The Göteborg 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships are set to receive over 250 hours of television coverage on the continent, with 26 international broadcasters from across Europe expressing intentions to televise the world's biggest indoor athletics event of the year.
According to the latest broadcast intentions received by European Athletics, there will be at least 254 hours of free-to-air television coverage in Europe of the 1-3 March championships, with 232 hours of live coverage.
The total number of hours of intended coverage is expected to increase once the broadcast intentions of some remaining rights-holders are received.
In addition to the 26 countries showing the event, pan-European channel Eurosport plans to show the majority of the championships live across its 59 territories.
"These intentions show the value international broadcasters are attaching to a European Athletics Indoor Championships that will be the biggest global athletics event since the Olympic Games," said European Athletics President Hansjörg Wirz.
The Paris 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships had 161 hours of television coverage in 23 countries.
This weekend's European Athletics Indoor Championships are the biggest event in the 2013 European Athletics' competition programme.
European Athletics will also stream live the Göteborg 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships at https://eurovision.digotel.com/ea/index.html. The live stream will be available worldwide except for Germany, France and Spain.
The event is supported by European Athletics' long-standing international partners SPAR, OMEGA, LE GRUYÈRE AOC and EUROVISION, along with a number of National Partners, Media Partners and Official Suppliers.
