COMRADES MARATHON – Toyota Athletes Conquer the 2013 Comrades Marathon
Team Toyota was all smiles at the finish line of this year’s gruelling Comrades Marathon as four team members received gold medals and one community minded supporter drove off in a brand new Toyota Etios.
The Toyota Athletics Club results included 4 Gold medals, including one podium finish. The Toyota team also received 18 silver, 16 Bill Rowan, 26 Bronze and 16 Vic Clapham medals. This result is a vast improvement for the Toyota Athletics Club.
“We commend all the athletes who participated. We can all learn from their courage, will to win and commitment to the race.
We would like to congratulate all the athletes that won a medal on their sterling performance. Toyota South Africa is very proud of the team,” says Leo Kok, Senior Manager: Corporate Communications of Toyota South Africa Motors.
Another important part of the Comrades sponsorship is the contribution Toyota South Africa makes the AmaBeadiBeadi group of charities both through direct contributions and the money raised through the Toyota Win-a-Car competition which has been the driving force for AmaBeadiBeadi fundraising.
Through this competition, Toyota sponsors an Etios to a lucky winner at a live ceremony at the race. The sms mechanism which gathers entries for this competition generates additional income for the AmaBeadiBeadi. This year’s lucky winner of a brand new Toyota Etios is Sheila Sawyers from Umhlanga in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
“Toyota South Africa is committed to the Comrades Marathon and the AmaBeadiBeadi group of charities. It is important for us to be involved in this race as this is a key base for our company and a significant part of our dealer network. We hope that our contribution to both the Comrades Marathon and the AmaBeadiBeadi will continue to make a difference in the lives of those the charities support. We also hope that our contribution will encourage others to join the fundraising activities.”
