Cape Town Marathon 42km

The 2012 Cape Town Marathon will take place on Sunday 23 September. The route is fast and flat, catering for elite athletes chasing fast. times and as well as beginners looking to finish their first marathon. The route showcases the mountain, the sea, and all the major attractions of Cape Town.

The marathon starts at 06H30 in Adderley Street, Cape Town's city centre, and takes runners out to Rondebosch before looping back to the City via the V&A Waterfront and Sea Point finishing on the Green Point Common Fields. You will struggle to find a more beautiful setting for a city marathon.

The route offers elite athletes the chance to post a fast marathon time and the eight hour cut-off allows first timers and walkers the chance to complete the distance with no pressure. It also showcases the mountain, sea and all the major attractions Cape Town has to offer.

The event is a qualifier for the 2013 Comrades and Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon.

Cape Town 10km

The 2012 Cape Town 10km will take place on Sunday 23 September. The route is fast and flat, catering for elite athletes chasing fast times as well as social athletes looking to finish a 10km in a good time. With a two hour cut-off, walkers are also welcome as they have ample time to complete the event and earn a medal.

The 10km starts at 06h30 in Adderley Street, Cape Town's city centre, and takes runners out to the V&A Waterfront and Sea Point before looping back to the City and finishing on the Green Point Common Fields.

Cape Town 4.2km Mini Marathon

The Cape Town 4.2km Mini Marathon is held in conjunction with the Cape Town Marathon on Sunday 23 September 2012.

The race will start at 07h45 and will be mostly run on the last 4.2km of the marathon route. The Mini-Marathon is aimed at athletes between the ages of 14-19 years; there are two age categories in the race, namely Junior (18-19) and Youth (14-17).

The Mini-Marathon is not an open event; participants are required to qualify via several different methods, including their positions in the mini marathon league, at cross country races and various qualifying races.

Cape Town 5 x 4.2km Relay

The relays are run on Saturday 22 September 2012 and are aimed at clubs, companies and schools. Each team will consist of 5 runners and each runner will run 4.2km. The 4.2km loop will take in the Cape Town Stadium, the pedestrian and cycle paths and the Park Amphitheatre. The relays start and finish on the Green Point Common Fields at 14h30.

Cape Town 5km Fun Run

The event features a 5km fun run on Saturday 22 September starting at 16h30 on the Green Point Common Fields.
