The John Disley Lifetime Achievement Award, named in honour of the late John Disley, co-founder of the London Marathon, is presented to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the event. Foster will be the third recipient of the award. Previous winners are Paula Radcliffe (2015) and Hugh Jones (2016).

“Brendan has been the voice of the London Marathon for hundreds of millions of viewers over the years,” said Hugh Brasher, Event Director of the Virgin Money London Marathon. “He is one of our Ever Presents – he has commentated on every London Marathon since the first race back in 1981.

"Every year he has told the story of our runners and we are delighted to honour this extraordinary contribution with the John Disley Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Prince Harry, patron of the London Marathon Charitable Trust, will present Brendan Foster with the award on Sunday 23 April.
