The sixth annual presentation of the Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2008, drawing both elite runners and recreational enthusiasts to compete in a variety of running/walking events over two days.

Set along the scenic Monterey Bay coastline, the 13.1-mile Sunday race travels a gently rolling loop course from historic downtown Monterey through Cannery Row, along the Pacific Grove coastline and back again. More than 6,000 participants are expected to compete in all events including the Run Forrest Run 5K race and the JUST RUN! Just Kids 3K event on Saturday morning.

The Big Sur Half Marathon draws heavily from California, but attracts runners from all 50 states and internationally. It is a major event of the Big Sur International Marathon organization which stages its signature event in April, a Mud Run in March, and a year round youth fitness program, JUST RUN®.
