SPECIAL REGISTRATION PERIOD
IMPORTANT: Please note that the special registration period for the above mentioned participants has now been established. This registration period will begin on August 19 and will conclude on August 29. Participants who are eligible for this special registration period will receive a non-transferable online code with which to register on August 1. It is the participant's responsibility to keep us updated with any change in their email address.
PROJECTED FINISH TIME
An email will be issued to each individual runner, indicating the last official checkpoint* that the participant reached at the 2013 Boston Marathon. As well, the email will contain the projected finish time of that participant..**
* Official checkpoint locations on the course were at 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k, half marathon, 25k, 30k, 35k, and 40k.
** We are unable to accept times from personal GPS device(s) or timepiece(s). We also acknowledge that participants may have passed other mile or kilometer points farther down course than the official checkpoint indicated. However, given the extenuating circumstances of the day, we appreciate your understanding in that we must work with the official checkpoint times which we have recorded and the projected time we have provided.
USAGE OF PROJECTED FINISH TIMES
Participant's last recorded checkpoint and projected finish are now posted on the official web site under "official results,". These times will be included in the Official Results Booklet in a separate listing, and participants will receive an official results certificate with this same information.
If a runner was an official starter who reached and was recorded at the half marathon checkpoint or later, AND the projected finish time at the 2013 Boston Marathon meets the Boston Marathon Qualifying Standard for age and gender for the 2014 Boston Marathon, then that runner may use this time and performance when submitting entry during the special registration period for the 2014 race for seeding purposes. Since we have already announced that those among this group will be able to register during the designated special registration period, participants need not be concerned whether or not a Qualifying time will be fast enough to guarantee registration.
COMPLETED RACE
In addition and for the B.A.A.'s internal purposes only, the B.A.A. recognizes these runner's participation in the 2013 Boston Marathon as an official finish. Those who have active, consecutive streaks of any length – or those who simply may keep track of how many times they have completed the Boston Marathon – may count the 2013 Boston Marathon as a completion if they reached the half marathon mark or later, and have been provided with a projected time.
- Please check the B.A.A. web site for updates
- The answers to many questions can be found on the FAQ page (or see a list of updated FAQs below)
- Updates to this information also will be sent by email.
- If you have an update to your email address prior to August 1, then please send it to registration@baa.org.
