Olympic and World shot put champion Valerie Vili will compete in Sydney on Saturday evening.
Vili and 13 other New Zealand athletes have entered in the Sydney Track Classic at the Sydney Olympic Park.
Vili won the shot put at the 2009 Sydney Classic with 20.09m, beating Kirstin Heaston of USA 17.87m and Australia’s Dani Samuels 15.78m.
Carl Van der Speck will compete in the 100m, James Dolphin and Jeffrey Thumath in the 200m, Adrian Blincoe in the 1500m, Brent Newdick in the 110m hurdles and long jump, Jason Woolhouse in the 3000m steeplechase, Marshall Hall in the discus throw and Stuart Farquhar fresh from his throw of 85.35m at the Porritt Classic in the javelin.
Monique Williams is entered in the 100m and 200m, Andrea Koenen also in the 200m, Angela Smit in the 800m, Hannah Newbould 1500m, Sarah Cowley 100m hurdles and long jump.
The women’s shot put is scheduled for 8.40pm Australian time.
