By admin 0

Athletics New Zealand is pleased to confirm the appointment of three key roles in the refreshed national office structure.

Carl Jackson has been appointed the new Commercial and Marketing Manager, where he will be supported by Brett Addison in the Communications and Membership role. Michael Sharapoff has been appointed to the new role of Community and Participation Manager.

Jackson, a former New Zealand athletics representative and US scholarship athlete, has an extensive background in brand management, sponsorship and marketing, both in the commercial and not for profit sectors. He joins Athletics New Zealand following a successful four years as Commercial Director for Triathlon New Zealand. Jackson will take up the role from 15 November.

Addison transfers across from the position of Athletics New Zealand Sport Manager which he has held for the last four years to the specialist Communications and Membership Manager role. His early focus will be managing the implementation of the new Member Management System and rolling out the organisation’s communications plan.

In heading up the new Community Athletics team, Sharapoff brings extensive knowledge of club and coach development and an innovate streak that has seen the successful launch of the Athletics NZ Get Set Go programme.

Athletics New Zealand Chief Executive Scott Newman describes the appointments as exciting news for the sport as it forges new products and services.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Carl, Brett and Michael into the new roles. It is a significant step forward for the organisation and provides an excellent platform from which to make a real difference in the way we support our clubs and members and try new things” said Newman.

Two further positions, Club Development Manager and the Coach and Officials Development Manager will be filled shortly.

All roles will be operational from the start of the New Year when Athletics New Zealand will be operating from its new bases in Auckland and Christchurch.
