In three days, on Friday 29th to Saturday 30th April, close to 300 University Athletes will make their way to the Antrim Forum to compete in the 2011 IUAA Outdoor Championships hosted by Queen’s University Belfast.

It promises to be an action packed two days of athletics with athletes of all levels competing against each other in the race to secure team honours for their college.

Dublin City University with a team packed with Irish Internationals such as sprint star Brian Gregan and the European Indoor Championship semi-finalist Darren McBrearty, are clear favourites for the Overall Team Championship, however University of Ulster, returning to the track where they won their last title will present a stern challenge with athletes such as Northern Ireland Commonwealth Team athletes Tom Reynolds and Amy Foster.

Alongside the usual medals this year, there will be prizes for best performance, best male athlete, best female athlete, best track athlete, best field athlete (throws) and field athlete (jumps), using IAAF Scoring Tables to determine the best of the best at the championship. Prizes will provided by ASICS in conjunction with Gotto Sports and the Ramada Plaza Hotel.

The event website is www.queensathletics2011.com and for those unable to make the championships Queen’s Athletics will be tweeting from Antrim Form results as they happen (https://Twitter.com/queens2011 , @queens2011).
