Athletics Australia Statement: ACC & ASADA Report

Athletics Australia is obviously aware of the contents of the public report released by the Australian Crime Commission on Organised Crime and Drugs in Sport. 

Whilst we note that there is no specific reference to athletics in the report, nor any evidence presented that any individuals from within our sport have been implicated, we are obviously very concerned by the findings.  All sports must take these findings seriously and move quickly to ensure the integrity of Australian sport.

We are therefore seeking a full briefing on the report from the ACC and hope then to be in a position to make further comment on the matter.

Athletics Australia has always worked hard to catch those few individuals who cheat, and we therefore will be looking to assist proactively with the ongoing investigation in identifying any individuals who may be suspect.

We also echo the Minister’s call for any individuals who may have information to assist the investigation and come forward now.
