Athletics Australia – News – High Performance Strategic Plan released
Athletics Australia has published its High Performance Strategic Plan for the period 2013 – 2016.
The new HP Strategic Plan, which was approved by Athletic Australia’s Board of Directors in September 2013, aims to support the goals of the Australian Institute of Sport’s ‘Winning Edge’. The stated aims of the Winning Edge are to make Australia a top five nation at the Olympics and Paralympics, the top nation at the Commonwealth Games and produce 20 World Champions each year.
“High Performance is one of the Pillars of Athletics Australia’s Strategic Plan for 2013–2016,” Simon Nathan, Athletics Australia High Performance Director, said.
“The overall objective of our High Performance pillar is to provide a stable and unified pathway for Australian high performance athletes and coaches involving talent identification.
“Our vision is that Athletics Australia’s High Performance program will do three key things. Firstly, it will identify athletes with the potential to contribute to the program’s aims, secondly provide levels of increasing status and support for those athletes most likely to meet the program’s aims and finally provide appropriate opportunities, experiences and performance management at each level of the program so that, should they progress within the sport, athletes are prepared to succeed at the highest level.”
