Athletics Australia – News – Gallaugher Sub-11
West Australian junior sprint sensation James Gallaugher has broken the 11-second barrier for the 100 metres as a 14-year-old in yet another astonishing performance.
Competing in a competition in Singapore against junior athletes from Singapore and Malaysia, Gallaugher ran 10.96 seconds in the 100m. The wind reading for the race was not immediately available.
That time is believed to be an Australian Little Athletics record.
Gallaugher’s previous personal best time over the short sprint was 11.03, set when he won the Under 15 national title at the Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney in March this year.
The indigenous schoolboy from Ulladulla first came to national prominence in 2012 when a clip on YouTube of him running the final leg for his team to win the 4x100m state schools title, making up more than 20 metres in the process.
The video has since had almost 2.5 million views on YouTube.
