Olympic champion Sally Pearson (Qld) will thrill audiences at the Qantas Australian Athletics Tour when she starts in the women’s 100m and 200m at the Sydney Track Classic on Saturday 9 March.

In an exciting development for the showcase meet in New South Wales, entry lists released today also confirm the participation of her fellow London 2012 medallists Mitchell Watt (Qld) and Jared Tallent (Vic) in the men’s long jump and men’s 5000m walk respectively.

“The Qantas Australian Athletics Tour will launch in Sydney this year and we are thrilled that fans in New South Wales have a chance to see all of our Olympic medallists in action,” Dallas OBrien, Athletics Australia Chief Executive Officer, said.

“Our own athletes will be joined by a strong group of international stars to ensure a fantastic night. We are grateful for the assistance of the New South Wales Government and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority in delivering both the event and the calibre of athletes entered.”

The medal-winning trio will be joined on the track and in the field by 23 of their Australian Flame teammates from the 2012 London Olympic Games, 11 Paralympians including gold medallists Evan O’Hanlon and Richard Colman and international charges Valerie Adams (NZL, shot put), Calesio Newman (USA, 100m, 200m), Sunette Viljoen (RSA, javelin) and Steve Lewis (GBR).

Competition will commence at the Sydney Track Classic on Saturday 9 March at 5:00pm, with the main program underway from 7:00pm.
