Athletics Australia is pleased to announce an U19 squad of 46 athletes, with their first camp taking place September 21-24 at the AIS in Canberra.

The forthcoming camp in Canberra will incorporate Athletics Australia/Athletics International's mentor program which involves 10 past champions of the sport sharing their knowledge, experience and guidance to the group over two days. With the second camp in January 2013 taking the form of a weeklong training format for each event group guided by Athletics Australia's National Youth Event Coaches.

Athletics Australia Junior High Performance Manager Sara Mulkearns said: "Congratulations to each of these athletes. They have been identified through their ongoing performances and have the potential to progress to senior teams.

"We also welcome each athlete's personal coach to the camp. The coaches will work in a mini conference type program where personal coaches and National Youth Event Coaches will learn from each other and AIS sports scientists and other invited guests."

"This is a wonderful opportunity to work together to develop this talented group of athletes. We thank all personal coaches in advance for the time and effort they will put into this camp program."

The squad is comprised of athletes born in 1994 and 1995 and have been identified based on their  performance matrix standard for their age.

The U19 squad athletes will come to the camp after completing all six Australian Sport Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) Pure Performance online modules.

All athletes and coaches across the sport are encouraged to do the same.
