AIMS races – this weekend – Coming up . . . The Berlin Marathon celebrates its 40th edition

Starting on 27 September at Lake Tahoe, three marathons are run on consecutive days, culminating in the 18th Lake Tahoe Marathon.

On 29 September the Standard Chartered KL Marathon is held after being postponed from its usual June date due to fallout from forest burning.

The BMW Berlin Marathon celebrates its 40th edition with a reunion of past world record breakers on the course including Patrick Makau, Haile Gebrselassie, Paul Tergat, Ronaldo Da Costa, Naoko Takahashi and Tegla Lorupe.

Elsewhere in Europe the 34th Warsaw Marathon is run in the Polish capital and the Baxter's Loch Ness Marathon in the north of Scotland. The BIL Route du Vin Half Marathon is held in Luxembourg and the Singelloop Utrecht 10km in the Netherlands – both on very fast courses.

The Carrera de la Mujer women's series stages its Bogota event in the Colombian capital.
