AIMS-IAAF Course Measurement Seminar held in Athens
The AIMS-IAAF Course Measurement Seminar concluded on Saturday 13 September at the headquarters of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) within the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens ‘Spiros Louis’ (OAKA).
The seminar started on Monday 8 September and was the first to be organised at the AIMS headquarters since it officially opened in November 2011. The course was conducted by AIMS general secretary and grade-A measurer Hugh Jones.
The perimeter areas of OAKA were used for this course and a circuit of 2.5km was designed and measured to be available to all runners who come to train within the complex.
In total 16 participants attended the course, 12 of whom were nominated by the athletics federations of the Balkan countries. Those attending have now returned to their own countries to measure road race courses and produce reports which will provide the basis for their accreditation as international AIMS-IAAF measurers.
The participants were: Dimitar Kojouharov (BUL), Dimitris Kelepouris (GRE), Dimitris Orfanopoulos (GRE), Dragana Ciganovic (CRO), Iolanta Khropach (UKR), Ion Frunza (MDA), Ivan Recevic (SRB), Kazım Metin Levent (TUR), Kire Sinadinovski (MKD), Lucija Kolic (CRO), Milena Vuksanovic (MNE), Reinhard Sachs (AUT), Rıfat Arabacı (TUR), Theodosis Livitsanos (GRE), Theophilou Vassos (CYP), Yurii Kostrytskyi (UKR).
