SUMMARY:
At races you often see runners once a year and even though running events are attracting more participants than ever they all divert in ability and interest.
To counter this Prague Marathon first developed a RunCzech Running League consisting of a Marathon and 5 half marathons, all awarded IAAF Gold and Silver labels, in five locations across the country. As a result the ‘Running Mall' has been launched in the heart of Prague, as a physical focus for the growing running community.
The idea of Running Mall was partially to create a running club, partially an open ‘agora', social platform catering to different aspects of runners' needs. Adidas has supported the Running Mall as a test centre; elite athletes stay long-term in Prague and become both part of the community and local heroes; and the Running Mall clientele is widened through innovative and varied offerings, corporate interests and team building exercises.
The entire initiative is aimed at uniting the sport rather than allowing it to fragment:
adidas running – Prague Marathon Store – a specialized shop devoted to all of the latest adidas running gear and equipment. Runners are offered professional advice and testing possibility.
RunCzech Racing – a project developed by the Prague International Marathon and the International Athletics Consultancy. By opening doors to all – professional athletes, developing racers, race organizers and hobby runners it promotes cooperation and dialogue in the world of athletics. Based at the Running Mall international group of young elite athletes train together and compete in prestigious races worldwide under the name of RunCzech.
PIM Running Club – a membership group that uses the Running Mall's fitness facilities, lockers and showers, and receives professional coaching and training schedules, seminars, and invitations for meetings with elite athletes and experts.
Runners ID – One digital platform for all activities: race registration, results and ranking, Running Mall
Emil and Dana Zatopek Conference Room – a conference multi-media facility dedicated to the Czech Olympic Legend Emil Zatopek, used for presentations and meetings with sport celebrities, elite athletes, health and sport professionals, along with social gatherings of community organizations and the RunCzech staff.
Sport Lounge – a fitness facility with treadmills and a variety of other exercise machines as well as table tennis, table football, and recreational possibilities. The lounge also hosts regular yoga and fitness classes and has massage, lockers and showers are available.
Water Bar – Running is also about being together. A comfortable area is suited for the public and running club members who can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and relax with friends after a workout or meeting while discussing their latest race.
CONCLUSION:
All this and many more boasts Running Mall – the Centre of running excellence in Prague. By bringing together elite and recreational runners, along with community, government and business leaders in this one location it is building a multi-faceted and growing community dedicated to the benefits of running and healthy lifestyle in Prague, Czech Republic and the world.
