37th annual Grandma’s Marathon weekend

By GRR 0

Here we are with just a little over a week remaining until the 37th annual Grandma's Marathon weekend – the weekend we all work round the clock and calendar to prepare for – as runners, volunteers, staff, etc. – and we  are ready!

We look forward to welcoming over 17,000 registered runners in Grandma's Marathon, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, the USA Men's and Women's Half Marathon Championships and William A. Irvin 5K to the starting lines and we are proud to showcase our beautiful city of Duluth!

Enjoy your last preparations and take it all in! Best of luck to you with  your race.

See you soon!

Sincerely,

Scott Keenan

Grandma's Marathon's official merchandiser is creating new styles with a state of the art fabric laser.

Advantage Emblem & Screen Printing invested in a Seit Laser Bridge ST4 fabric laser earlier this year. According to Advantage Emblem owner Nathan Bentley, "The Laser Bridge lets us create more intricate and innovative clothing designs than our competitors can make." One of only 22 such devices in the country when it went on-line this spring, the Laser Bridge is part of a 12,000 square foot expansion at Advantage Emblem.

"We consistently reinvest in our company by purchasing state of the art equipment and providing ongoing training for our staff. Doing this drives costs down and we pass savings on to our customers," says Bentley. "Our business is growing so the company had to grow, too. The expansion increased our building's size by 33%. We also expanded our embroidery and banner departments, and redesigned our shipping and receiving areas. Advantage Emblem is a strong, innovative company that is adding employees and technology. We are ready to take on any project, no matter how big or small it is."

The Minnesota Pork Board (MPB) is off and running in preparation for this year's Grandma's Marathon. MPB continues as a proud sponsor of Grandma's Marathon and the MPB staff and volunteers are counting down the days to one of our favorite events. The MPB delivers consumer information and cooking tips on behalf of Minnesota's 4,200 pig farmers who proudly raise high quality and wholesome pork for grocery store meat cases. This event is a great way for MPB staff and booth volunteers to talk with consumers about how nutritious pork benefits their healthy lifestyle.

Grandma's Marathon"Cirrus is excited to continue our role as sponsor for the 2013 Grandma's Marathon. We gladly honor our tradition of maintaining support for a community that has shown so much support for us," said Cirrus Co-founder and CEO, Dale Klapmeier. It may seem like a non-traditional partnering – the world's leading general aviation manufacturer and a world-class road race – yet both can boast Duluth pride on an international level.
