34th Athens Marathon, the Authentic Marathon 2016 – MESSAGE BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE HELLENIC ATHLETICS FEDERATION

The Athens Marathon, the Authentic Marathon, is not just a sporting event, a hard race, a tough course of 42,195m.
 
More than that, the Athens Marathon, the Authentic Marathon, is a bridge that unifies the legend with history; it showcases the strength of human will; it is a fountain of values, of social liability, environmental sensitivity, friendship and solidarity.
 
 
In 2016, we are celebrating the 34th anniversary of the Athens Marathon, the Authentic Marathon, and we hope that our strong efforts along with your presence and participation in the race will turn this year's event into a milestone for the years to come.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Panathinaikon Stadium on 13 November 2016!

MESSAGE BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE "ATHENS MARATHON. THE AUTHENTIC" ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

Let us welcome you in the 34th Athens Marathon, the Authentic Marathon, to be held on 13  November 2016. The Athens Marathon, the Authentic Marathon has turned into the biggest, most massive and most significant of all sport events in Greece over the last years.

It plays an important role in the development of the running community in Greece, promoting an alternative way of life and bringing thousands of people closer to sports and running habits.

On the other hand, the Athens Marathon, the Authentic, is at the same time a major international sport event, with runners and spectators from all around the world, highlighting the city of Athens and Greece worldwide.

The Organizing Committee, our partners, staff and volunteers, under the guidance of the Hellenic Athletics Federation and with valuable support by our sponsors, will do their best so that this year’s event proves to be an extraordinary lifetime experience for all participants.
