Jackson Kotut Set to Run
Jackson Kotut will attempt his second consecutive victory at the Tiberias Marathon
Last year's winner of the International Tiberias Marathon Jackson Kotut will travel to Israel again. The Kenyan runner set an all time course record in 2009 when he finished in 2:08:07.

The previous record of 2:10:32 belonged to Leonard Muchero from Kenya.

Both Muchero and Kotut have confirmed their participation for the marathon in 2010. Many other elite marathon runners plan on attending the Tiberias Marathon, making it one of the most competitive in event history.

Eitan Hermon Set to Run Tiberias Marathon

Last week Eitan Hermon registered for the 33rd International Tiberias Marathon. As many are aware, Hermon lost half of his right leg in the Second Lebanon War three and half years ago. Hermon recovered quickly and returned to the track to train as he did before his injury.

Hermon uses a special prosthetic which allows him to run like any other athlete. Hermon's determination and persistence combined with a love for running pushed him to attempt the Tiberias Marathon.

This year, Hermon has competed with great results. In June, he ran a 5 km at Tel Aviv University in 18:53. His coach Yair Karni has helped him to train and run 32 km.

The organizing committee wishes great success to Eitan in his challenging endeavor.

Currently there are over 1,000 participants registered for the marathon. Over 80 are female athletes and more than 100 foreigners will race from 20 countries.

The Organizing Committee of the 33rd International Tiberias Marathon is appreciative of the early list and expects many other runners from Israel and abroad to join the list of participants. The expectation is that the marathon will host over 1,500 in 2010.
