Less than 100 days are left for the 31st Athens Classic Marathon, to take place on November 10, 2013 along with the 5 and 10km Road Races, as well as the 1000m Kids Run and the Special Olympics Hellas race to be held along the Marathon course this year.
More than 7,500 Marathon runners of all ages from Greece and abroad have already submitted their registration. The goal of 10,000 runners in the Marathon Race set by the Organizing Committee is to be met very very soon, while the percentage of those coming abroad will be 25% higher than last year.
On the other hand, registrations for the 5 & 10km Road Races have already closed since July, as the participation limit of 16,000 runners has been met.
Beside the mass participation that the 31st Athens Classic Marathon is enjoying this year, the event will be brightened with the establishment and announcement of the AIMS Award for the Best Marathon Runner of the Year.
AIMS, in cooperation with the Athens Classic Marathon Organizing Committee, will award the world Best Male and Female Marathon Runner of 2013 in a Gala to be held on November 8, 2013, two days before the Athens Classic Marathon.

ΟΝE MORE GOAL ACHIEVED – REGISTRATIONS FOR THE 10km CLOSED LAST NIGHT
Registrations for the 10km Road Race closed last night, three and a half months before the event, with more than 8,000 runners already registered. The maximum number of entries available was met yesterday afternoon, after an overwhelming response by the Greek as well runners from abroad, that led to closing down registrations quite early enough with regard to the previous years.
Something like that was anticipated to happen, after the closure of the registrations period for the 5km Road Race that ended four months before the event, on July 12, 2013.
The Organizing Committee would like to sincerely thank all runners, companies, authorities and clubs that registered for either the 5km or the 10km Road Race, proving their belief in this event and creating an amazing, incredible atmosphere four months before the race!
We are certain that the Marathon Race and the Power Walking will follow as well, and registrations will close by the beginning of September 2013. That is why we invite all Marathon Runners around the world, as well as those that would like to just walk the Marathon course – even for the first time in their life – to join us and register themselves the soonest possible, so that they are not left out of this unique sport and culture festival, the 2013 Athens Classic Marathon.
