There are almost 2600 runners on the starting list of 24th International Halfmarathon PHILIPS Piła that will take place on September 7th. If the registration process will  continue its pace it is possible that this year edition of the race will be a record one in the terms of attendance.

High interest showed by runners in Piła Halfmarathon caused the long tradition of the event, speedy profile of the route and the date of the race – 3 weeks before marathons in Warsaw and Berlin. Many leading Polish runners are going to run in Piła to compete for the title of Polish Champion in the halfmarathon.

Registration process to the 24th International Halfmarathon PHILIPS Piła will last for almost a month. Currently starting list includes almost 2600 runners from the Poland and other countries like Germany, Norway and Sweden.

There are 500 runners more registered to the race compared to the previous year at the same time. Most of the runners registered to the race are the residents of Poznań, Pila, Bydgoszcz and Warsaw. There are almost 6 00 women among the registered participants.

A great advantage of Pila event organized by the Association of Street Races is a flat route that allows to achieve good results. Many runners come to Piła to improve their personal bests at a distance of 21.097 km. Half-marathon route PHILIPS is certified by IAAF / AIMS and PZLA – polish track&field federation.

Piła Halfmarathon for many years belongs to the AIMS – family of the most important street races in the world. AIMS brings together 350 major street races from nearly 100 countries.
Last year's nomination of Henryk Paskal, director of the event on the function of the Ambassador of AIMS proves international recognition of Piła Halfmarathon.

"We are pleased to see the great interest in our event showed by the runners.  Let me assure you that we will make our best to ensure perfect organization and good conditions for fast running, just like during previous editions of the event in Piła.

Halfmarathon three weeks before the marathons in Warsaw and Berlin is the perfect way to test the form. It would be easier to determine the goals for the marathon and to choose the best strategy for running"- said Henryk Paskal, director of Halfmarathon PHILIPS Piła.

Race in Piła will have a status of Polish Championship Men and Women and the Polish Army Championships in the halfmarathon.  The current Polish Champion in a distance of a half marathon is Marcin Błaziński, who won last year edition of the race in Piła finishing the race in 1:05:04.

Since 2006 finishers of Halfmarathon PHILIPS Piła are collecting unique medals showing images of the runners who have influenced the development of the running in Poland.
