Zurich will belong to the runners on Sunday, April 9, 2017 as more than 9'000 people participate in the 15th Zurich Marathon, the 8th Teamrun, and the 6th Cityrun.

The slogan for the 15th Zurich Marathon will be: "Zurich makes you run." The new Swiss Runners Ticket now gives all participants a free return journey on Swiss railways.

On Sunday, April 9, 2017, Zurich and the right bank of Lake Zurich will become a runner's world as more than 9'000 running enthusiasts run the route from Zurich Mythenquai to Meilen and back. The varied, fast-paced route makes the Zurich Marathon a unique running experience and 70% of all participants achieve new personal bests.

Compared to last year's event, the 15th Zurich Marathon will be rather earlier in 2017. This does not mean that people should expect colder weather. Last year showed that it can still be quite cold even later in April. As Bruno Lafranchi, president of the organising committee, recalls: "Last year's Zurich Marathon did indeed take place quite late in April, but in the end it was one of the coldest runs in the past 15 years. But the brave runners did not let the sleet keep them from running."

New perk: free journey from place of living to Zurich and back
Everyone participating in the Zurich Marathon, the Cityrun, or the Teamrun can now enjoy free public transport from their place of living to Zurich and back. Get your personal promo code by email or by post. Then use your promo code at www.sbb.ch/ticketshop to get your free return ticket in second class. The ticket is only valid for the registered participant and is valid for the return journey only in combination with your starting bib. The new agreement between SBB and Swiss Runners includes other races in addition to the 2017 Zurich Marathon, allowing participants to travel to their races for free.

Zurich Marathon looking for marathon novices
The organisers are looking to make contact with people of all ages planning to run their first marathon ever at the 15th Zurich Marathon. Under the slogan "Four Paths to Your First Marathon", the Zurich Marathon would like to report on the experiences of four people as they prepare for their first marathon ever. Whether this runner is using a book, an app, running classes, or even no preparation at all, the only requirement is that the Zurich Marathon will be his or her first marathon ever. Interested runners are asked to send an email by December 18, 2016 to info@zuerichmarathon.ch.

Cityrun, Teamrun or Marathon? A run for everyone
The Zurich Marathon offers the right run for any skill level. The Cityrun covers 9,85 km free of traffic through the city centre of Zurich. The classic marathon, meanwhile, will take runners through the city along Lake Zurich to Meilen and back again. With the Teamrun, that same marathon route is divided among four runners, where each runner completes a segment of 4, 11,7, 9, or 17,5 km, with all four reaching the finish line together.

Reduced entry fees until December 31, 2016
Save up to CHF 40.- until registering by December 31, 2016! Registration by post remains open until January 31, 2017 and online through April 2, 2017. Registering early is worthwhile, especially for the Teamrun, which has had all of its available slots filled in recent years long before the registration deadline.

Registration deadline for all three runs is January 31, 2017 by post and April 2, 2017 online.
