FRANKFURT, April 29, 2013 – The German Olympic Sports Confederation is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the German Sports Badge (DSA) this year.

The badge was introduced in 1913 and has been awarded more than 33 Million times since the start. Alone in 2012 more than 843.000 people were successfully participating in the test, two million people tried out.

To celebrate the birthday DOSB is taking the DSA on a tour throughout the country.

The final will be held in the Garden of Castle Bellevue, Berlin, the official residence of Federal President Joachim Gauck. DOSB President Thomas Bach and his Executive Board will start the tour on May 12th in Hamburg.

"The German Sports Badge has become a successful brand within Germany and abroad. People can try out for it in 36 countries", Thomas Bach says.

On the occasion of the birthday the DOSB re-structured the test for the badge. From this year on the German Sports Badge is awarded in Gold, Silver and Bronze. Other modernizations are the introduction of an DSA-App, a national stamp dedicated to the badge (58 Euro Cent) and a special coin.
