FLASH: Kenianer Kipsang und Kabuu laufen Topzeiten in Ras Al Khaimah

FLASH: Mit absoluten Weltklassezeiten haben die Kenianer Geoffrey Kipsang und Lucy Kabuu den Halbmarathon in Ras Al Khaimah gewonnen. Bei dem Rennen in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten siegte Geoffrey Kipsang in 58:54 Minuten.

Erstmals blieben bei einem Lauf über die 21,0975-km-Distanz gleich drei Athleten unter 59 Minuten: Die Kenianer Stanley Biwott und Geoffrey Mutai kamen nach 58:56 beziehungsweise 58:58 ins Ziel. Kipsang verpasste zwar den Streckenrekord seines Landsmannes Patrick Makau, der 2009 in Ras Al Khaimah 58:52 gelaufen war, jedoch erreichte er die neuntschnellste Zeit aller Zeiten im Halbmarathon. Der Weltrekord von Zersenay Tadese (Eritrea) steht bei 58:23 Minuten.

Genauso spektakulär war das Frauenrennen in dem Wüstenemirat: Lucy Kabuu lief mit 66:09 Minuten die zweitschnellste Zeit aller Zeiten. Nur Weltrekordlerin Mary Keitany, die in Ras Al Khaimah 2009 in 65:50 gewonnen hatte, war bisher schneller.

Erstmals blieben am Freitag die ersten drei Läuferinnen eines Halbmarathons unter 66:30 Minuten: Die Kenianerinnen Priscah Jeptoo (66:11) und Rita Jeptoo (66:27) belegten die Ränge zwei und drei.

Based on top 10 average RAK half marathon is the fastest in the world on the women's side as well. The top 10 average is 1:06:43
Priscah Jeptoo, Meseret Hailu Debele, and Helah Kiprop became 58th, 59th and 60th runner 
to crack 1:08 for the half marathon

Meseret Hailu ran the fastest half marathon as 22 years old, 1:06:55, in RAK
Lucy Kabuu ran the fastest half marathon as 28 years old, 1:06:07, in RAK 
Priscah Jeptoo ran the second fastest half marathon as 28 years old, 1:06:10, in RAK 
Rita Jeptoo ran the fastest half marathon as 32 years old, 1:06:26, in RAK
