Retrospect
Regensburg qualified for the organisation of the European Veterans Athletics Championship half marathon, 10 km road race, cross country (relay race) and walk in May 2005.
Regensburg’s cooperation concept was accepted by European Veterans Athletic Association (EVAA). From that time on both big sports clubs LG Domspitzmilch Regensburg and LLC Marathon Regensburg have been cooperating and established a local organisation team only two days after the decision.
Regensburg’s teams convinced the EVAA with their organisational experience of many national and Bavarian championships. Regensburg also scored with its 2000 year old medieval city and with an already existing infrastructure of the Regensburg Marathon and Gewerbepark.
The cross country race will only take place for national relays and it will be located near the sports facilities near Weinweg.
