Britain's Mara Yamauchi was an impressive victor at the 2008 Osaka Ladies Marathon in Japan, at the weekend with 2:25:10 performance.
The result represented a personal best by three seconds and the first marathon victory for Yamauchi, who improved on her previous personal best of 2:25:13 from the 2006 London Marathon.
Romania's Lidia Simon finished sixth in 2:27:17, her fastest time since 2005, while Constantina Dita-Tomescu was ninth in 2:28:15.
"I am happy with my first marathon victory, I was hoping to run little faster, but win is a win, so I am very happy," said Yamauchi, who is married to a Japanese national and lives in Japan.
