Under sunny skies 12,815 triumphant people from 35 countries participated in the full, half, team relay, 8km and kids marathon races.
Thomas Omwenga retained his title with a 9:24 improvement over last year, while Mary Akor turned the tables on last year's winner Claudia Camargo.
Bettyjean McHugh from North Vancouver, BC, at 80 years old recorded a half marathon time of 2:04:19 to better the old record of 2:23:54 and set her 13th single age category world record.
The race took participants along a scenic route that included False Creek, the Seawall, Stanley Park, and across the Burrard Street Bridge, through Kitsilano and Point Grey to the finish line at BC Place Stadium. The original race back in 1972 was five laps around Stanley Park.
