Jason Gardener, the four-times European Indoor 60m Champion, has been appointed to the board of UK Athletics. Gardener, a member of the gold medal-winning British 4x100-metre relay team at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, will join the board, which is chaired by Ed Warner, with immediate effect. He said:

Jason Gardener, the four-times European Indoor 60m Champion, has been appointed to the board of UK Athletics.

Gardener, a member of the gold medal-winning British 4×100-metre relay team at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, will join the board, which is chaired by Ed Warner, with immediate effect.

He said: ‘I can draw on my experience in a GB vest to bring an Olympic athlete's perspective to the table. I am looking forward to working with my fellow UKA board members.'

Always respected by his fellow athletes for his uncompromising stance towards doping, Gardener was a co-commentator for Eurosport at the recent SPAR European Cup in Annecy.
