Seaman, Vaill win USA 10-Kilometer Walk titles – US Track & Field – NEWS

INDIANAPOLIS – Two-time Olympian Tim Seaman won his 36th career national men's title and 2004 Olympian Teresa Vaill successfully defended her women's crown Saturday at the 2009 USA 10-Kilometer Race Walk Championships in Albany, N.Y.  The event was held in conjunction with the 31st annual Freihofer's Run for Women. The Adirondack Association of USATF played host to the event featuring many of America's finest race walkers.
 
Although two-time Olympian Allen James challenged early on in the men's race, Seaman eventually pulled away, crossing the finish line first in a new course record time of 42 minutes, 56 seconds. For Seaman it marked his 36th career U.S. race walk national title. He trails only National Track & Field Hall of Famer Henry Laskau, who owns the most U.S. men's race walk crowns with 42.
 
James finished as the runner-up in 45:36, with Richard Luettchau leading the Shore Athletic Club to its third consecutive national team title in this event with his third-place finish in 46:34. Pegasus Athletic Club of Michigan finished second in the team competition.
 
Teresa Vaill had little difficulty in winning the women's 10 km title, crossing the finish line first in 46:44. Maria Michta was the runner-up in 51:02, with Solomiya Login third in 53:25.
