Interest in the Stockholm Marathon is greater than ever. Entries from 20,136 runners have been accepted for the 32nd edition of the race. This means that the number of participants has increased for the 14th consecutive year. The previous year 18,736 entries were accepted, and the year before 18,231.

Entries for the 2010 Stockholm Marathon had to be closed the on 17 November. Several thousand keen runners failed to get a place in the race.

10,538 are running the Stockholm Marathon for the first time. Many of them, however, have run other marathons.
30 runners have completed Stockholm Marathon every year since the premiere in 1979.

4,695 women have entered which is the highest figure in Stockholm Marathon’s history. The percentage of female runners is 23%. When Stockholm Marathon was held was the first time 31 years ago, 2,155 runners registered. Amongst those were 69 female pioneers.

The average male runner in Stockholm Marathon is 40 years old. The average female runner is a little younger – 38.

5,412 runners from Finland

Stockholm Marathon attracts participants from all over the world. This year, of the 20,136 entries, 8,701 runners come from outside Sweden. As always most overseas runners come from Finland – 5,412 entries.

Germany is next with 704 runners followed by Norway 417, Great Britain 346, Denmark 318, France 250, Italy 241 and Spain with 141 participants.

76 countries are represented in this year’s race.
