Athletics Canada needs your help to earn 100K Pepsi Refresh Project Grant

OTTAWA – Athletics Canada is excited to announce that it's nomination to the $100,000 Pepsi Refresh Project grant application has been approved for online voting.

The application to "Lead a Road Running Revolution for Canadians with Physical Disabilities" aims to encourage more people with physical disabilities to be active, to create an online community, and provide equipment and support to create a venue for personal growth, development and goal setting.

David Greig, Para-Athletics National Talent Development Coach believes that this project is important to reduce the barriers to community based recreation for people with physical disabilities. "Road running is a great social outlet, this grant will extend that network nationwide and build an amazing online community of support." Greig adds "Para-Athletics is about seeing individuals with physical disabilities grow and thrive both personally and physically. Through the Pepsi Refresh grant we will be able to provide Canadians with an outlet, opportunity and motivation to pursue their personal goals."  

Para-Athletics Head Coach, Ozzie Sawicki sees this grant as an opportunity to both increase awareness and funding of Athletics Canada's para programs.  "The grant presents an excellent vehicle to generate awareness as to the fundamental sport opportunities available to individuals with a disability.

The potential for additional funding to Para-Athletics development in Canada is significant, and I certainly encourage everyone to vote in its support."
