Twin Cities In Motion Debuts New Logo for Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon – Design symbolizes race’s reputation as one of the most beautiful urban marathons
SAINT PAUL, Mn – Twin Cities In Motion (TCM) debuted a new logo for the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, marking thirty years and beginning a new chapter in their history. Registration for the 30th running of the event is now open. This year’s marathon will be run on Sunday, October 2, 2011.
Hailed as “The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America®,” a leaf was identified as the strongest symbol of the event’s history and a fitting representation of the marathon experience. The new mark captures the spirit of the race and the Twin Cities community by joining two distinct halves into a single unit. The icon represents both the Twin Cities separated by the Mississippi River, and the beautiful marathon course that joins the two communities. The leaf logo is displayed alongside the event name, which is set in custom letterforms and compliments the icon with a crisp, modern style.
“It’s more than just a running event. After 30 years, the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon is an icon in the community,” said Virginia Brophy Achman, Executive Director for TCM. “The marathon really deserves an identity of its own.”
The familiar “leaf man” icon which debuted in 1985 lives on in the corporate identity for TCM, the organization responsible for planning and executing the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and nearly a dozen other year-round running events. This created the need for a new logo for the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and its weekend of events.
