Budapest Marathon Races 2011 – In 2011 Budapest Marathon Organisation offers the following races in Budapest, Hungary:

26^th Budapest International Half Marathon 4 September 2011  – a scenic, fast and flat course approved by AIMS in the heart of Budapest with more than 6 000 participants on the half marathon distance, with overall 10 000 participants on the race day, including all the distances.

Available distances: 21 km individually, 21 km in pairs, Fun Run (3,5 km).

The course leads past symbols of Budapest, past buildings which are part of the World Heritage.

26^th Spar Budapest International Marathon 2 October 2011 – A tailor made middle size marathon in the heart of Europe with more than 3000 participants on the marathon course.

Other distances are available: 30 km, relay for 3 or 5 runners, minimarathon (7,5 km), fun run (3,5 km), overall more than 15 000 participants on the race day! The course if flat, approved by AIMS leads through the inner city of Budapest, past beautiful monuments and buildings.

The course also leads along the bank of the Danube on both sides, so runners have the chance to admire the panorama both of Pest and of Buda.

The beautiful bridges of the city are also part of the course, runners either cross a bridge or run under it, so Budapest, the City of Bridges can be admired during the run.

Last year almost 10 000 runners took part on the Nike Budapest Half Marathon (including the relay for two runners and the fun run distances), with more than 1000 foreign runners from 40 different countries.

On the Spar Budapest International Marathon nearly 15 000 runners participated in 10 different distances. There were 3000 runners who competed on the marathon distance. However, runners can also choose the unique 30 km race, which is very useful for those who are not prepared for the marathon yet or are planning to run one in the near future. Teams or groups of friends can enjoy the relay race of 3 or for 5 persons. If you register for the marathon race, you can bring a person to run he 7,5 km long minimarathon for free.

The nice atmosphere and the friendliness of the races are enhanced by street musicians along the course. The courses are wide and flat so this is perfect to beat one’s personal record as well.

The course is scenic: running through the world heritage of Andrássy Street and along the riverside that divides the city in two parts gives an unforgettable experience for all runners. Runners can admire the panorama of the city from both sides of the river. From the Buda side you can see the huge building of the Parliament, the second largest in Europe. From the Pest side you can see the Buda hills, the Gellert hill with the monument. Budapest is known as the city of bridges: runners either cross the bridges or run under them, so the beauty of all can be admired while running.

Spectators are evenly spread out along the course but slightly thin on the ground, so if you are more turned on by a fantastic view and to running a quick time, this is your race.
