TJEJMILEN – Race information Tjejmilen 2011 -30,576 runners from 23 countries – Saturday 3 September 2011 13:00 Today!
Interest in the Tjejmilen is increasing. 30,576 runners from 24 countries have registered for the race. Registration was closed 31 July when the maximum number of entries (30,000) was reached. Last year 28,091 runners registered, the year befoer the number was 26,112.
58 per cent of the runners have chosen the Competition Class, 42 per cent the Fun Run.
Welcome to the 28th annual Tjejmilen. 30,576 women from 23 countries have registered for this year´s race. We hope that you will enjoy the race through the royal park ”Djurgården” in Stockholm on Saturday, 3 September. The first group starts at 13.00.
Your race number is printed on the registration card that will be sent to you by regular mail. You will get this letter in mid August.
You are required to present the registration card when you pick up your race number.
Registration will be held at ”Danicahallen”, an ice hockey hall, 500 metres from the Olympic Stadium (”Stockholms Stadion”) in central Stockholm (see map below). The best way of getting to and from the registration is by underground (”T-banan”). Nearest station is ”Stadion”.

At the registration you will get your number bib. During the race, your number bib must be clearly visible on your chest.
At the registration you will find our Sports Expo. The official Tjejmilen clothing and other souvenirs are sold at the Expo.
It will take you about 30 minutes to walk from the registration to the start.
Runners in the Competition Class have a chip attached on the bib. This chip is used to record your time during the race.
Your time is recorded when you cross the start line and when you cross the finish line.
No times are recorded in the Fun Run Class. At the finish you can check your time on the clock display on the finish line.

The best way of getting to and from the start/finish at ”Gärdet” – a big park in central Stockholm – is by underground. Nearest station is ”Karlaplan”, see the course map. ”T-bana Karlaplan” to the left on the map is the underground station Karlaplan.
A limited number of changing rooms and showers are available at the start/finish area. We recommend you to change and shower at your hotel.
You can leave your track suit or any other clothing in the specially designated area, ”Överdragskläder”. After the race you can pick up your belongings at the same location (see map below).
For safekeeping of valuables we advise you to go to the ”Värdesaks-inlämning” (Safety Deposit Service). You must present your number bib, which is your receipt, when you reclaim your valuables.
Toilet facilities are situated at the start/finish area and at each refreshment station.
The start is at "Gärdet" – a park in central Stockholm, check this map! The start is divided into 15 groups. There are 5 or 10 minutes intervals between the start of each group.
The first four groups are for the seeded runners in the Competition Class.
All other runners choose a start group between 5 and 15 according to their running ability. The faster runners start early, the slower joggers start later.
There will be maximum 2,000 runners in each group, except for group 1.
Each group has a marked area close to the starting line. You should be in this area no less than 20 minutes before your group starts (see map above).
A warm up program starts at 12.40 and will be repeated regularly.

Please do not start in any of the first groups if you are not a well trained runner.
The course runs through the beautiful landscape of the Royal National Park “Djurgården”.
The course is 10,000 metres, mostly paved surface and almost flat. The only uphill slopes are after 6.5 and 9 kilometres.
Each kilometre is indicated by a sign.
You must always follow instructions from the police or race officials.
If you get tired, please keep to the right hand side of the course so faster runners can pass you on the left hand side.
Along the course there are four refreshment stations. Only water is available at the first and third refreshment stations.
Water and the energy drink Maxim Electrolyte Orange & Lemon flavour are provided at the second and fourth refreshment stations. Maxim is served on the first tables and then water is served.
All cups used during the race are compostable and will be collected in compostable bags. The official waste disposal company Ragn-Sells will collect and ensure that all cups are composted. Large trash bags for used cups will be placed after the refreshment stations. Please leave your cups here.
After finishing the race you will receive your medal.
”Frödinge Ostkaka” offers all runners cheesecake (a Swedish speciality). Other sponsors offer the runners fruit and juice.
