What would the Jungfrau-Marathon be without the Jungfrau? You, the Jungfrau and the world famous panorama have made this event a marathon of superlatives, a cult race and the alpine equivalent of the New York event. You are running with a complete view of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau finishing no ordinary marathon but a unique runners experience .

Along the way the scenery keeps changing: The emerald Lake of Brienz contrasts with the icy mountain giants of the region, the sheer rock faces in the Lauterbrunnen Valley with the bubbling waters of the Lütschine and the gnarled stone pines below the Wengernalp with the eternal ice of the majestic Silberhorn.

 

 

Two Marathons

2012 two marathons, the first on Saturday, September 8th and the second on Sunday September 9th, will take place. This gives most of the runner the possibility to gain a starting place.

On Saturday all the womens categories and men from category M50 on start for the race.
On Sunday the mens categories M20, M40 and M45 start for the race.

Also new in 2012 will be the category double and couple.
In the category double every runner can start, who runs both marathons.
The category couple gives the possibility for a man and a women for an extra ranking beside the normal individual ranking.

World championships long distance mountain running

After 2007 the Jungfrau Marathon is able to hold for the second time, the world championships in long distance moutnain running. The womens world championships race will be September 8th, the mens September 9th 2012 

 

Entertainment programme

 

Highlights will be the world championships opening and award ceremony, performances from DJ Ötzi Saturday and Sunday as well as two extra shows of the Wiliam Tell open air theatre. Tickets now on sale!

 

World championships long distance mountain running

After 2007 the Word Mountain Running Association (WMRA) has choosen the Jungfrau Marathon for the 2nd time to organize the world championships.

The women world champion will be chosen on September 8th. The men's world championships race will be on September 9th 2012.
