It’s all about the runner! In line with its 2013 campaign – ‘U are ultraordinary!’ – the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has catered for its ardent runners from all corners of the Zulu Kingdom.
The CMA marketing team will visit the northern district of Amajuba on Saturday, 8 September 2012 where it will motivate runners to take up the Comrades challenge in 2013. This will be the first of three Zulu-specific workshops in the magic province.
This runner-centred workshop will be hosted by the Newcastle Harriers Athletics Club at the Amajuba District Office, Department of Education Hall at 113 Panorama Drive in Lennoxton, Newcastle.
On hand to share the great news of the world’s oldest and biggest ultra-marathon will be the CMA Marketing Coordinator, Thami Vilakazi who will also have the latest details of the Comrades Marathon entry process and all other relevant information.
Local running great Bongmusa Mthembu will do his bit to motivate the runners to run their best race come Sunday, June 2, 2013. This outstanding runner will also share his running tips to help runners complete The Ultimate Human Race within the cut-off time of 12 hours.
Also part of the roadshow team will be Biokineticist, Menzi Ngcobo from the High Performance Centre (HPC) in Pretoria. Menzi will advise runners on the most effective training techniques, injury prevention measures and all-round nutrition to stay at the top of their game and be well prepared for an amazing Comrades run.
Vilakazi says, 'The entry process for the 2013 Comrades Marathon officially opened on Saturday, 1 September 2012. We are really excited about next year’s race, hence the roll-out of our roadshows which have been a huge source of help and motivation to a large number of runners.’
Vilakazi adds, ‘Whether you are a novice or a veteran Comrades runner, these workshops are tailored to prepare athletes for ultimate performance. We anticipate a packed house at all of our workshops and would like to encourage all running enthusiasts to attend them and be part of the ultraordinary Comrades world.'
