Virgin London Marathon – Position statement on Matt King

By GRR 0

We are naturally disappointed that this situation has arisen, as we have met with Matt King in an endeavour to assist him with the request for him and 8 helpers to take part in the London Marathon.

The London Marathon has explained at length to Mr King the detailed policies that govern our organisation and of the governing bodies of our sport, but unfortunately Mr King has decided to take the matter to the High Court.

Motorised devices whether they are of the nature that Mr King wishes to use or mobility scooters that others have wanted to use are not permitted in our sport.

New York Marathon has confirmed that it too would today take the same position as would virtually every other major marathon in the world.

The London Marathon is unable to make any further comment pending the forthcoming litigation.
