Athletics Canada – News – Saskatoon City Hershey Meet recipient of grassroots grant

OTTAWA – Athletics Canada announced today the recipient of the 2012 Hershey’s Track & Field Games Day in Canada grant.  The Saskatoon City Hershey Meet held in Saskatoon, Sask., was chosen as the recipient among the pool of participating events for the 2012 Hershey’s Track & Field Games Day in Canada grant. 

The 2012 national grassroots event saw more than 1,000 athletes participate across the country, with the Saskatoon City Hershey Meet featuring 150 participants in the pre youth age category.

Exciting changes are in the works for the 2013 edition of Hershey’s Track & Field Games Day in Canada including a new exciting website.  Stay tuned for format changes which will allow the event to grow in stature and reach more participants across the country in a fun filled environment.

About the Hershey’s Track & Field Games program

HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games was founded in 1975 by Dr. Donald P. Cohen in Charleston, W.Va.  It has grown from a local playground event in a single community to an international program encouraging youth physical fitness and sportsmanship.  More than 10 million children from the United States and Canada have participated in the HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games to date.

Additional program partners include the National Recreation & Parks Association, National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and Nike Grind.
