Auckland Centre Meeting, AUT/Millennium Stadium – 17 November 2012

Talia Horgan went close to qualifying for the world youth championships in the 400m on Saturday.
The 16 year old from Cambridge recorded 55.52s, just outside the performance standard of 55.50s set for the championships to be held in Donetsk Ukraine in July. Conditions were far from perfect and Horgan, who has a personal best of 55.35s from the national schools championships last year, should easily post a selection time in better weather.
Matthew Bloxham however did achieve a performance standard for the youth championships in the field. Requiring a throw of 67.50m with the 5kg hammer Bloxham was in fine form hurling the ball and chain three times out over this mark, his best being 70.02m. Nicole Bradley won the women’s hammer with a throw of 55.44m.
Adam Miller dominated the senior throws winning the shot put, with 15.02m, the discus 42.48m and the hammer 55.69m.
Dalton Coppins was whipped along with a strong tail wind to a 21.62s (+3.9) clocking in the 200m, Scott McLaren battled out the 400m with Jonty Rae both timed at 49.89s and Ben Moynihan led throughout the 1500m to record 3m 55.78s with Arianna Lord taking out the women’s 1500m in 4m 41.90s.
