Nordhausen, Germany – Reigning world champions Ryan Whiting and David Storl are set to clash at the 13th edition of the famous German shot put event, the Nordhauser Energie Indoor meeting, on 18 January.

The American, who beat Storl to the IAAF World Indoor Championships title in Istanbul earlier this year, will make his debut at the meeting which has been dominated by his compatriots in recent years.

Christian Cantwell won four times in succession from 2008-2011 while Reese Hoffa took the honours in 2007.

However, the 2011 World Championships winner and 2012 Olympic Games silver medallist Storl reasserted German supremacy in Nordhausen this year when he won with an effort of 21.24m.

Meeting director Werner Hütcher expects there to be a 2000 capacity crowd once again in the Wiedigsburghalle, just as there has been in recent years.
